In follow-up self-replies, he continues by saying that Japan Studio had a build of the game running on Windows 7, and that he’s seen the code firsthand. He believes that there are “literally zero technical barriers between Bloodborne and a PC/60fps PS5 port/re-release.” In response, McDonald sent a tweet posted above that he doesn’t know where the idea that FromSoftware’s engine is messy or spaghetti came from. But I'd buy it because it's one of my favorites and I'm weak. It would strike me as a bit of a cash grab. I would be a little disappointed, because I really don't think Bloodborne necessarily needs much of a remaster outside of it's frame rate and maybe resolution. Back in October 2020, McDonald said he would give Sony a chance. My best guess is that a remaster is on the way. Celebrated modder Lance McDonald has released his Bloodborne patch that makes the game run at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 4. It seems to be technically possible, since Lance McDonald did so on his own with a modded PS4 (though game logic did have to be changed, rather that it being a simple unlock). And we know that other games have received a patch for either PS5 or PS4 pro to, at the very least, unlock their frame rate. Just as on the PS4, it is locked at 30fps. Only some games like Enter the Gungoen will have framepacing problems when locked to 58fps somehow. I just need to lock to 58 and keep above 40 fps and its all butter smooth and with lag as small as possible. While Bloodborne is backwards compatible and can be played on the PS5, there are no improvements. edit: 40-60hz freesync range on computer 4k monitors is a godsend. In his most recent test video, shown below, he also adds that the game can reach 60fps 'quite reliably,' even when using a PlayStation 4 Pro with Boost Mode enabled. As part of the PS Plus collection, fans were shocked that Bloodborne couldn't run at 60 FPS on PS5, but one modder takes the issue into his own hands. So, at least among the enthusiast nerds here on Era, there's definitely a demand for a 60 FPS upgrade to Bloodborne, especially given the recent release of the Demon's Souls Remake, which is getting a lot of praise for it's very smooth and beautiful Performance mode. Lance McDonald, a name in the Bloodborne and Souls community in general is currently working on a patch that can increase the framerate to a stable 60fps.
